When should I replace the timing belt on my Lexus? I've heard every 90,000 or 120,000 miles. What is the correct interval replacement for my year/model?
All Lexus 1990-1997 models, the timing belt replacement interval is every 120,000 miles except for the 1995-1997 LS400 and SC400.
All Lexus 1998 models and newer, and the 1995-1997 LS400 and SC400, the timing belt replacement interval is every 90,000 miles.
The Lexus LX450 is chain driven, therefore has no timing belt replacement.
At the time of replacing the timing belt, it is also strongly recommended to replace the water pump. The water pump is driven by the timing belt. Failure of the old water pump may cause pre-mature wear on the new timing belt.
At which service interval are the spark plugs replaced? 30, 60, or 90 thousand miles?
The Lexus LX450 spark plug replacement is every 30,000 miles. These plugs are standard copper resistor type.
All Lexus 1990-1998 models, except LX450, spark plug replacement is every 60,000 miles. These year/models utilize platinum tipped plugs.
All Lexus models 1999 and newer, spark plug replacement is every 90,000 miles. These vehicle's plugs are iridium tipped.
In additional to plug replacement, the factory recommends several other services to be performed at the same time. Ask us for more information or consult your vehicle's owners manual.
